Residential Field Trips
One striking feature of a child’s experience at Dolphin is the unique residential trip programme. This begins in Year 3, and by Year 5 the children will experience at least two residential trips per year.
Our residential field trips are designed to stimulate children through hands-on multisensory experiences, bringing to life aspects of British and European culture, history and environment. What better way to learn about the Industrial Revolution than by donning your Victorian smock and venturing down a coal mine? Or how about mapping out the technicalities of William the Conqueror's victory in 1066 by designing and building your own Norman shield, before charging across the fields of Hastings?
Some Dolphin children enjoy the opportunity to perform in Edinburgh, advertising their show on the Royal Mile and then performing it at the Fringe. Whilst most children learn about the Romans through books and DVDs, Dolphin children walk the same walk: from the underground cells, to the arena in the Colosseum, to the stones of Hadrian’s Wall!
