Year 1 visited Tiggywinkles Animal Hospital. We had a fantastic day of talks, tour of the hospital and exploring the site. Many of the animals we saw have a permanent home at Tiggywinkles, as they are unable to return to the wild. When they have fully recovered, others will soon be released back into the wild. Michael and Colin were excellent tour guides and taught us lots about the animals.

In the animal hospital we saw chicks, a badger, fox kittens and an adult fox. They were all being cared for by the wonderful team of vets and hospital staff.

Did you know that some animals cannot see the orange colour of foxes? They are seen as being green in colour and this helps the foxes to camouflage!

We held some antlers from roe deer, whilst learning about how deer use their antlers during rutting. Did you know that deer can eat their antlers after they have fallen off? They are full off goodness, such as calcium!

We enjoyed seeing all of the animals, but I think our favourite ones were the hedgehogs, as we have been learning about them at school with our topic 'under the ground'. A wonderful day enjoyed by all and we hope to return again next year!
