Y4 Dorset Trip 2022

On Friday 17^th June, 23 Year 4s and 4 of their teachers set off for Dorset. On the way they stopped at the New forest heritage Centre where they learnt all about habitats, rocks and the traditions of the New Forest Commoners. After a picnic lunch in the shade of the trees they set off leaf spotting and were rewarded with the sight of numerous wild deer in the forest.  It was then a short hop to Swanage. It was such a lovely evening that the day concluded with a paddle and game of beach cricket. Everyone was up bright and early the next day to tackle the big adventure – the uphill path from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door via Man O’War Bay. A quiet period of sketching the famous landmark was followed by lunch before a trip to do more sketching -this time of the Lulworth Crumple at Stair hole.  After a well-deserved ice cream treat the children then conducted a survey of members of the public to find out their reasons for visiting the World Heritage Site. That evening after dinner the highlight of the trip was a visit to the crazy golf course!  Next day it was time to leave for home with a stop at Butser Ancient farm where they carved chalk decorations with flint, made Iron Age jewellery and learnt about Roman maths lessons in the reconstruction of a villa. Everyone had a great time and can’t wait for the next school trip.
